Project Manager and National Coordinator
Artificial intelligence is transforming society. AI Sweden is the national center for applied artificial intelligence, jointly funded by the Swedish government and our partners, both public and private. Our mission is to accelerate the use of AI for the benefit of our society, our competitiveness, and for everyone living in Sweden.
Are you ready to take on a central and multifaceted role? We are looking for a driven and structured Interim Project Manager and National Coordinator to ensure continuity across a range of vital functions, with a particular focus on project steering and national collaboration. You will help shape the future of AI Sweden and significantly enhance our ability to support partners. You will play a vital role in empowering organizations to leverage AI and solve critical societal and business challenges.
This is a full-time temporary position covering parental leave, offering an opportunity to work broadly and strategically across the organization.
Deadline for application: 2026-04-05
About the position
AI Sweden is a national program supported by several host organizations across the country. In this role, you will manage projects and serve as a strategic bridge to foster national collaboration. The role demands robust budget and project management skills, complemented by operational and strategic experience.
Examples of activities and areas you will be responsible for are:
Managing projects: driving activities such as developing common working methods/practices, following up on results and indicators, writing status reports, managing budgets, and maintaining regular contact with stakeholders.
National collaboration: acting as the bridge between AI Sweden’s host organizations. This involves coordinating check-ins, managing yearly plans, follow-ups, and budgets, as well as handling recruitment, general questions, and contributing to strategy and development.
We believe that as a person you are:
An energetic and curious person with exceptional communications and management skills, as well as a commitment to making a real difference.
A process-oriented leader who thrives on creating structures and implementing continuous improvement across workflows.
A generalist rather than a specialist. Curious and eager to learn when it comes to new tools, platforms, and technologies.
Dedicated and like to take responsibility for your work; from ideation through production and over the finishing line.
Good at paying attention to details as well as seeing the broader picture.
Ready to undertake any tasks, large as small.
Workwise, you have:
Proven project management skills and experience of leading both with and without formal authority.
A structured way of working.
Experience in budgetary oversight and financial reporting.
Proven ability to function as a strategic liaison between teams or organizations.
Professional experience of different AI technologies such as predictive AI or generative AI
Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant roles where leadership, structure and strategic communication have been dominating aspects.
Experience of building and maintaining good relations with different types of roles and organizations.
A constructive approach to finding synergies between initiatives and to maximizing values for stakeholders.
Fluency in both Swedish and English.
Location
This role is based in Gothenburg. You'll be part of AI Sweden's 100-person team distributed across many cities, including Gothenburg, Stockholm, Linköping, Lund, Malmö, Växjö and Luleå.
Why work for AI Sweden?
At AI Sweden, you’ll be part of a diverse and highly skilled team with inspiring colleagues all working with a higher purpose in mind than “just” tech. You'll be working alongside journalists, linguists, policy professionals, leading AI scientists, historians, entrepreneurs, change leaders, and many more.
As an organization, we’re uniquely positioned at the sweet spot of governmental influence and startup agility. Small enough to stay adaptive and have fun but backed by and in close contact with both the government, academia and private and public sector.
And, within our mission, we can most certainly be a platform empowering you to realize your ideas. AI Sweden’s ability to empower partners and individual team members to do exceedingly well in their profession is a key success factor for driving positive and significant impact.
In short, we like to believe we offer our team members a place to grow, an environment for personal development and achievements.
An equal and fair working environment
We strongly believe in diversity and inclusion and are acutely aware of the skewed gender balance in our industry. We actively strive to put together a diverse team in terms of age, gender, and background.
Naturally, we are under a collective agreement (“kollektivavtal”) and offer everything that comes with it in terms of annual leave, pensions, wellness allowance (“friskvårdsbidrag”), and such.
