AI Sweden is looking for a passionate and driven individual to establish our presence in Brussels as our Policy & Funding Advocate. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the regulatory landscape for Artificial Intelligence in the European Union and ensuring Sweden's strong participation in key EU funding programs
About the position
As our Policy & Funding Advocate in Brussels, you will be responsible for:
- Influencing EU Legislation: Actively monitoring, analyzing, and influencing the formulation and implementation of EU legislation relevant to Artificial Intelligence, including the AI Act and related initiatives.
- Building Key Relationships: Establishing and nurturing strong relationships with key decision-makers within the European Parliament, the European Commission, other relevant EU institutions as well as key stakeholders in Brussels.
- Monitoring and Influencing EU Funding: Tracking and influencing the formulation of EU calls for proposals within the Horizon Europe and Digital Europe programmes, with a focus on securing opportunities for Swedish stakeholders.
- Representing AI Sweden: Serving as AI Sweden's representative in relevant European forums and working groups.
- Providing Strategic Insights: Keeping AI Sweden and its partners informed about key policy developments and funding opportunities within the EU.
Occasional travel to Sweden and within Europe will be required.
We believe that as a person you’re
A highly motivated mid-career or senior individual with:
- A strong understanding of the European Union's legislative processes and institutional landscape.
- Proven experience in policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement at the EU level.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and its societal and economic implications.
- Familiarity with EU research and innovation funding programmes, particularly Horizon Europe and Digital Europe.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English (additional European languages are a strong asset).
- A relevant academic degree (e.g., in law, political science, European studies, or a related field).
- Strongly connected to and with a deep understanding of Sweden and the Nordic
- Fluency in English and at least one more nordic language (additional European languages are a strong asset).

The position is based in Brussels and will be offered under a fixed-term employment contract in accordance with local legislation, indicatively for a period of 6 months, followed by an additional 18-month term, subject to mutual agreement and performance.
