Full-stack developer with backend focus - The digital assistant Svea
AI Sweden is now looking for a full stack developer to further strengthen the Digital Assistant team. In this role, you will design and develop the future of generative AI within the public sector.
Artificial intelligence is transforming society. AI Sweden is the national centre for applied artificial intelligence, jointly funded by the Swedish government and our partners, both public and private. Our mission is to accelerate the use of AI for the benefit of our society, our competitiveness, and for everyone living in Sweden.
We are now looking for a full stack developer to further strengthen our team.
About the position
A Shared Digital Assistant for the Swedish public sector is an initiative that aims to foster national collaboration on generative AI for text and create the necessary conditions for a common AI solution for the sector. Through a holistic approach, working with technology, law, data and education, we are exploring within the same project all perspectives required to succeed. A prototype, “Svea”, is being developed to be tested in the operations to measure real effects and through actual use prove the value of a common LLM-based assistant.
Right now, we are significantly scaling up the project, and with that also expanding the team. This means we are on the lookout for a skilled, enthusiastic and experienced full stack developer that will further develop and maintain our cutting edge LLM based assistant – Svea. In this fast-paced project you will be working in a brilliant team that is designing robust and performant backend infrastructure to power the application. You will be part of a small cross-functional team of developers and data scientists to bring the digital assistant from a proof-of-concept to a full-featured product to be used by thousands of users daily
And workwise, you have the following key responsibilities
- Design and develop high-quality software solutions for interaction with generative AI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle
- Design, build, and maintain public and internal RESTful APIs for AI interactions
- Optimize backend performance to handle large amounts of data, complex data pipelines and many simultaneous users
- Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data
Technical requirements
- 2+ years of backend software development experience
- Expertise in API design and development
- Strong database skills with SQL and noSQL databases, e.g. PostgreSQL and Vector databases
- Familiarity with PHP and Laravel and Python for backend development
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Nice-to-haves
- Frontend experience with modern javascript frameworks, especially Vue.js
- Experience with on-premise deployment
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration
- Previous experience working with AI or Machine Learning systems
We believe that as a person you’re
- A true team-player who enjoys working in a highly ambitious and innovative project
- Ready and eager to solve challenges together with the team as they arise
- Passionate about AI and eager to see a wider adoption of AI in the public sector
- Thriving to work with a high degree of autonomy and personal initiative
Who we’re looking for
To us, artificial intelligence is not only about tech, it’s a force for positive societal change. To work here, you don’t need to know “everything” about AI, but you need to believe in its potential to help shape our society for the better. Some of our colleagues are leading AI experts, but far from all of us are as technically well versed. You'll be working alongside journalists, linguists, policy professionals, leading AI-scientists, historians, entrepreneurs, change leaders, and many more.
Why work for AI Sweden?
At AI Sweden, you’ll be part of a diverse and highly skilled team with inspiring colleagues all working with a higher purpose in mind than “just” tech.
As an organization, we’re uniquely positioned at the sweet spot of governmental oomph and startup nimbleness. Small enough to stay adaptive and have fun but backed by and in close contact with both state and industry, both private and public. A hybrid, just like you.
And, we can most certainly be a platform helping you realize your ideas. Bring a good one, big or small, and we most likely will support and co-create with you.
In short, we like to believe we offer our staff a place to grow, an environment for personal development.
Listen to Johanna, Vinutha, and Martin to hear what they say about working at AI Sweden.
An equal and fair working environment
We strongly believe in diversity and inclusion and are acutely aware of the skewed gender balance in our industry. We actively strive to put together a diverse team in terms of age, gender and background.
Naturally, we’re under a collective agreement (“kollektivavtal”) and offer everything that comes with it in terms of annual leave, pensions, wellness allowance (“friskvårdsbidrag”), and such.
Application closes December 15th and the position will be placed in Gothenburg och Stockholm. If you have any questions or thoughts, don’t hesitate for a second to contact jonatan.permert@ai.se or lucas.ambjorn@ai.se.
